American Traditional Tattooing

Neo-Traditional Tattooing
This evolved style of American traditional tattooing employs vibrant colors with an illustrative edge often incorporating morphed animals along with floral patterns. Neo traditional is a very broad term and can be interpreted in many different ways.
Japanese Irezumi Tattooing
Traditional Japanese tattooing aka Irezumi, originated during the Edo period (1603-1868). Mythological creatures like dragons, kirins, and phoenixes are common imagery of this style. Every tattoo done in this style tells a story about Japans rich past, and creates a Irezumi masterpieces that is deeply powerful.
Black & Gray Tattooing
Stylistically speaking, blackwork applies to almost any body art that’s created using solely black ink, but a lot can be done with this versatile and striking color. Looking through the rich history of blackwork, you’ll see everything from ancient sacred geometry to modern abstract ornamental designs to extremely detailed illustrative pieces that are shaking today’s industry.
Illustrative Tattooing
A large variety of work can be called illustrative. From etching and engraving, to abstract expressionism, and even fine line calligraphy, this style is extremely versatile. Many artists who work in this style and will blend their own aesthetic with it to create a whole new style of their own.
Texas Style Tattooing
A predominately color style that blends American Traditional, Traditional Japanese, humor, and bold imagery into a solid and cohesive work. Brought about by a very small handful of Texas tattooers in the late 1990’s this style set the stage for the next generation of tattoo artists.
